Because of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act of 2018 all nationwide consumer reporting agencies must:
- Allow consumers to place a security freeze on their credit file.
- Allow consumers to temporarily lift or permanently remove the freeze.
- Do all of the above for free.
Below are links on how to sign up for free management of freezing. When signing up be sure to ignore and skip any pay features heavily pushed when logging in and creating an account. Freezing your credit is completely free and each of the below companies will try to get you to pay a subscription. You don’t need to pay because of the act that was passed in 2018, instead you can safely ignore any offers and continue.

- Experian: https://www.experian.com/freeze/center.html
- TransUnion: https://www.transunion.com/credit-freeze
You are also entitled to one free full credit report per year from each agency above. Details can typically be found in the account you create.
