After cloning a disk I could not boot into windows on the new disk. I followed some instructions that I should not of and deleted Partition 0 which contains the boot files.
I tried the following commands with no luck:
bootrec /fixmbr (successful)
bootrec /fixboot (successful)
bootrec /scanos (successful)
bootrec /rebuildbcd (element not found)
What finally worked was this:
Boot a MBR USB stick with Windows 10 pro and go through the wizard to install windows
I selected the partition with my data and got an error stating the current windows folder will be renamed windows.old
Continue past that error and then as soon as it is done copying system files click the X to cancel the installation (You may be able to even unplug the computer at that moment if you want.)
DON’T LET IT CONTINUE INSTALLATION CANCEL IT AFTER THE FIRST STEP IN THE INSTALLATION PROGRESS WINDOW! Clicking the X worked for me.
I then rebooted using the MBR USB stick and selected repair windows
Select Fix startup issues and it detected problems
Let it scan and fix those errors and it finally booted properly into windows!!
